Unfortunately, the name of Yuri Petrov (1938-1998), professor at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, pianist, pedagogue and scholar, is little known in the musical world: he is known mainly to researchers of Domenico Scarlatti's music. Meanwhile, this was a personality of enormous scale, a bright, versatile and extraordinary talent, and a tragic fate.
The book offered to the reader is a collection of scientific works by Yuri Petrov and is mainly devoted to the work of the great Baroque composers D. Scarlatti and Johann Sebastian Bach, sometimes from an unexpected perspective for traditional musicology.
