Vladislav Germanovich Agafonnikov (b. 1936), composer and pianist, People's Artist of the Russian Federation and Professor of the Moscow Conservatoire, wrote his Piano Sonata in 1958, while still a Conservatoire student. Due to its vivid style, the work at once attracted the attention of performers. The Scherzo (1961), dedicated to the pianist Yakov Zak, is a well-known concert piece.
Aleksey Arkadievich Nasedkin (b. 1942) is a pianist and a composer, People's Artist of the Russian Federation, winner of international competitions and Professor of the Moscow Conservatoire. Seven Preludes (2010) continues his cycle of six preludes, published by "Muzyka" in 2008.
