Created under the impression of Arabic fairy tales "1001 Nights", symphonic suite "Scheherazade", according to B. V. Asafiev, "still does not cease to captivate listeners as one of the most charming tales of the East in Russian music". All four movements of this work originally had the following titles, later removed by the author: I. The Sea and Sinbad's Ship; II. The Story of the Kalendar Prince; III. The Young Prince and the Young Princess; IV. Festival at Baghdad and the Ship Breaks against a Cliff Surmounted by a Bronze Horseman.
This publication is based on the edition: Rimsky-Korsakov N. Scheherazade : Symphonic Suite after "1001 Nights" for Orchestra. Op. 35. - Transcription for Piano 2 hands. - Moscow : Musical Sector of State Publishing House, 1930. Only some adjustments have been made, related to the requirements of modern notation.
